Dr. Govind Gaurav

Dr. Govind Gaurav is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at C.M.P. Degree College in the University of Allahabad, India. He did M.A. in Political Science and was awarded the gold medal for securing the first position in the university. He qualified for UGC-NET and was awarded a UGC Research Fellowship. He completed Ph.D. in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University in 2016. His specialisations are international relations, diplomacy, strategic studies, Asia-Pacific studies, Indo-Pacific studies, South Asia studies, Indian foreign policy, etc. He received the “UGC Best Paper Presenter Award” in 2013 and the “ICWA Best Research Paper Award” in 2015.

He was a discussant in the India-China Track-II Dialogue and participated in various national foreign policy discussions. He was honoured with the “National Youth Leadership Award” by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is also the winner of several national-level debates, elocution and essay competitions.

He has ten years of teaching experience. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Political Science (on a contractual basis) for the B.A.LL.B course in the Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University. He is currently also a Visiting Faculty at the Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad

His 25 research papers are published in international and national refereed/UGC-CARE listed journals, and 5 articles are published in foreign policy magazines. He authored two books, “The United States, China and the Contest for Supremacy in the Asia-Pacific” and “Kautilya Siddhant: Antarrashtriy Sambandh ke Adhyayayan ki Bhartiya Gyan Parampara”, and also edited a book, “India@75: Democracy, Diplomacy and Development”. He wrote 10 chapters in different reference books. He also contributed one module to the course study material for M.A. in International Relations for IDOL, University of Mumbai.

He presented papers and delivered talks in 40 international and national seminars and participated in five Faculty Development Programmes and five workshops. He also organised three national seminars and eight workshops/FDPs. He is the Project Director of an ICSSR Research Project too.

He is a life member of the “Indian Political Science Association” (IPSA) and a member of the “American Centre”.

He is Co-Coordinator of IQAC/NAAC of the College, Convener of Defence & Strategic Studies, Co-Convener of DCA, Co-Convener of the Centre for Vocational Studies and Skill Development, Co-Convener of the Media Committee and Co-Convener of the Students Grievance Redressal Committee of the College. He is also the managing editor of the “Research Communications” Journal and a reviewer of the “Journal of Social and Political Studies” of the University of Allahabad.
