Earn While You Learn Scheme

Earn While You Learn Scheme

Earn While You Learn (EWYL) Scheme

CMP Degree College has taken the initiative to support the poor and needy students under the EWYL scheme adapted from UGC to help students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups earn and support their education and acquire skills to enhance their employability. the scheme was proposed by the IQAC and it was implemented after being approved by the resolution of Governing body of the college in December 2022

EWYL aims to provide students with hands-on experience, develop them for future jobs, and encourage them to diversify their activities beyond the course curriculum.  The incumbent student will be given work in different areas, including the library (arrangement and display of books, issue and return of books, etc.), laboratory (equipment handling, maintenance, conduct of practicals—only for PG/Ph.D. students), office administration, especially the Student Section (data handling, data preparation, filing work, drafting work), examination department data entry work, as well as the software development work of the college for developing software modules for various applications with multiple functionality. Students will be required to maintain a good academic and conduct record for the continuation of the scheme.

Objectives:

  1. Exploit the immense potential of students as a valuable human resource.
  2. Involve the students in the management and development of the institution.
  3. Give students hands-on experience and thereby prepare them better for taking up jobs in the future.
  4. Encourage young students to learn about the dignity of labor.
  5. Prevent students from avoidable distractions and engage them in meaningful, positive activities.
  6. Enable meritorious and needy students to earn a reasonable amount every month to meet their expenses.

Practice of the EWYL Scheme:

  • All departments, sections, libraries, and administrative offices (henceforth termed “hosts”) are eligible to benefit from the services of the students under this scheme.
  • The ‘Hosts’ would send a requisition to the Coordinator EWYL scheme (by filling out the SERVICE REQUISITION Form).
  • Each interested candidate must fill out a Candidate Registration Form and submit it directly to the coordinator of the EWYL scheme.
  • Applications of all the registered candidates shall be screened by the Screening Committee, and all eligible candidates shall be required to appear before the Screening Committee for selection under the EWYL scheme.
  • The convener or in-charge of the host will be responsible for ensuring that proper delegation of work, training, working space, and basic facilities are provided to the selected candidates, maintain a mandatory attendance record, and send a copy of that record, duly signed by the head as well as the candidate, along with the remuneration bill for the candidate, to the coordinator office, who in turn will send it to the accounts section for payments.
  • The students shall be paid Rs. 100 per hour for software development and Rs. 75 per hour for any other work, subject to a maximum of six hours per week, and this ceiling on working hours stipulates that the jobs are not pursued at the cost of study. The student can thus earn a maximum of Rs. 2000–2500 per month with a ceiling of Rs. 20,000 per annum.
  • The payment would be made directly to the bank account of students, subject to submission of honorarium bill and an attendance-cum-progress report
  • A certificate shall be given to the student on the successful completion of services under the EWYL Scheme, subject to their satisfactory performance.
