Established in 1955, the Department of Philosophy stands as one of the college's oldest and most storied departments. Throughout its illustrious history, it has been graced by eminent philosophers, including Dr. A.R. Shah, Dr. Meera Rai, Dr. A.K. Shrivastava, and Dr. Rama Rani. Currently, the department is staffed with four dedicated faculty members, overseeing the education of over 1200 students.

Adhering to the prescribed syllabus of the University of Allahabad, the department prioritizes effective curriculum delivery. It employs a multi-tiered approach to ensure optimal teaching and learning, taking into account the diverse classroom composition and varying levels of learners. This approach is enhanced through meticulous planning and feedback mechanisms.

At the departmental level, the convener and faculty members collaborate to plan and execute the curriculum efficiently, crafting an academic calendar that maximizes the teaching and learning process. The goal is to strike a balance where neither academics nor co-curricular activities are compromised, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education.

The department plays a pivotal role in organizing term examinations, assignments, mid-term assessments, and end-term examinations for postgraduate students, aligning with the university's guidelines. At the undergraduate level, annual examinations are conducted according to the university's schedule. Additionally, the department maintains transparency in its assessment procedures and provides students with access to their evaluated answer sheets.
