INTRODUCTION

To offer undergraduate geography courses, the Department of Geography was founded in 1958. Postgraduate programmes were added gradually, and the first class graduated in 2017. Research initiatives that allowed the Department to conduct qualitative research have been in place from 2019.

Main Areas of Academic Thrust:

*Agricultural Geography, *Population Geography, *Environmental Geography, *Regional Development and Planning, *Social & Cultural Geography, *Urban Geography, *Settlement Geography, *Resource Development and Management, *Geomorphology, *Industrial Geography, physical Geography  ,Geography of Africa, Geography of north America, Geography of India world Geography

Additionally, the department includes a Geographical Research Group to advance study, spark interest, and foster observational abilities in geography. Regular meetings are held every two weeks. Attending these meetings are both teachers and students. Research students can use it as a place to present and defend their doctoral theses, research publications, and findings. Additionally, in-depth conversations are held.

One of the most comprehensive collections of books and journals on geography can be found in the departmental library. At present it has nearly   Books (reference and Texts Books) and  Journals ( International and  national journals). Departmen  of  Geography  CMP  Degree  College provides  student  with  the full fledged  library  to  cater the  needs of the  students

The  library  contains  around  70 books  which  are  based on the  topics of  regional  geography , Geomorphology , Geology , population  geography , practical  Geograpahy  , Cartography , Biogeography , economic  geography , Sustainable  Development, Human  Geography , and  Geographical  Thought,

The Department has a fully equipped Survey Lab. The survey lab has following instruments for conducting field surveys’ viz.,Total station autolevel, theodolite, GPS distance meter, telescopic alidade,& dumpy level ,Planetable, Clinometer, Pentograph, planimeter, rotameter and prismatic compass. The Department  have fully  furnished  Computer, projectors, White  board  with  display  facilities.
