About the Department
The Department of Medieval History, originally the Department of History, was established in 1955 and has played a very prominent role in the academic activities of the college since its inception. There were distinguished faculty members in the Department. In 1966, the Department of History bifurcated into two separate Departments: the Department of Ancient Indian History and the Department of Medieval History. At present there are 04 permanent faculty members from almost all the specialized fields of Medieval History. One of the department's most notable faculty members was Dr. Satyendra Nath.

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Medieval History offers a strong foundation in the subject area for undergraduate students, encompassing subjects like the History of Modern World, the Cultural History of India, and the History of Medieval and Modern India. Students will develop solid understanding of both medieval and modern history as well as critical thinking abilities.
The Masters of Arts (M.A.) program in Medieval History is for individuals who want to learn more about the topic in-depth. Students can concentrate in areas such as Historiography, Economic History of Medieval India, History of Modern Europe, and History of U.S.A. The curriculum fosters advanced research abilities and analytical thinking for careers in academia, research and public policy.
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is for students who want to conduct original research and advance the study of medieval history. Ph.D. applicants work on extensive research projects under the direction of eminent faculty members, making significant contributions to the academic community and society at large.
Departmental Library
The Department has its own library where the books are gifts from the department's teachers and former faculty members. It contains books that are distributed to PG-level students.
The department's commitment to academic excellence is further exemplified through its research and initiatives. These include research activities, seminars, and workshops. Students have the opportunity to engage in collaborative research projects and gain exposure to cutting-edge developments in the field.
