The Department of Mathematics at CMP Degree College, Prayagraj, has been an integral part of the college since its inception. Aligned with the college's overarching vision of excellence, the department is dedicated to evolving into a center for research in both practical and theoretical mathematics, with a focus on interdisciplinary exploration. Presently, the department boasts a faculty team of seven permanent members actively engaged in teaching and research, covering a wide spectrum of pure and applied mathematics. These dedicated faculty members have contributed to high-quality research journals.
The department has a storied history, with a distinguished lineage of scholars that includes luminaries like Prof. Nawal Kishore, Prof. Sneh Lata, Prof. R.P. Dwivedi, Dr. Gyan Chandra, Dr. Vyas Ji Dwivedi, and Dr. S.N. Verma. This glorious tradition continues to thrive as the current faculty members pioneer research in cutting-edge areas of contemporary mathematics and its practical applications. The department remains at the forefront of specialized research in fields such as numerical linear algebra, cryptography, optimization theory, fixed point theory, measure theory, group theory, commutative and non-commutative algebra, ring and module theory, mathematical modeling, and differential equations.
Courses offered
The department's academic offerings have evolved over time. Originally, it was exclusively an undergraduate department. At present, the department provides a range of educational opportunities, including undergraduate (B.Sc.) and postgraduate (M.Sc.) programs, which have been available since July 2016. Furthermore, the department is proud to announce the introduction of a Ph.D. program starting from the academic session 2023-24.
Department library:
The Mathematics Department takes pride in its dedicated Mathematics Library, a treasure trove of knowledge and a testament to the department's commitment to fostering academic excellence. Our library comprising a collection of books generously donated by our current and former faculty members. These books encompass a wide spectrum of mathematical topics, catering to various academic levels and interests. We firmly believe that access to quality education should be inclusive and open to all. To this end, we extend the use of our library resources to our undergraduate and postgraduate students, with a special focus on those who may face economic constraints. In future, we plan to expand our Mathematics Library further by acquiring a broader range of mathematical texts and references. Our goal is to ensure that our students have access to the latest and most comprehensive resources.
Student and Alumni Engagement: We create opportunities for our students to connect with mathematics alumni who have excelled in various fields. This engagement will provide insights and inspiration for their future career paths.
Our Vision
The Department of mathematics has witnessed a transformative journey of academic growth and evolution. From its inception as an exclusively undergraduate department, it has progressed into a hub of comprehensive educational opportunities. Today, we envision our department as a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and research excellence. Our commitment to academic advancement knows no bounds, and we aspire to continue our evolution as a leader in the field.
Our vision for the future is guided by these key principles:
1. Academic Excellence: We strive to maintain and enhance the highest standards of academic excellence, both in teaching and research.
2. Comprehensive Learning: We are dedicated to providing a diverse range of educational opportunities, including undergraduate (B.Sc.) and postgraduate (M.Sc.) programs.
3. Pioneering Research: We aim to be at the forefront of research in our field, pushing the boundaries of knowledge and contributing to global academic discourse.
4. Ph.D. Program: As a testament to our commitment to advanced research, we are delighted to introduce a Ph.D. program, beginning in the academic session 2023-24.
We believe that our journey is not just about growth; it's about empowering our students and faculty to excel, innovate, and contribute to the academic world. Our vision is to create an environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a thirst for knowledge.
Our department is dedicated to fostering a culture of research. We are in the process of establishing research groups to explore cutting-edge mathematical topics. Collaborations with academic institutions and research organizations are on the horizon. Our Ph.D. program is set to expand with a focus on nurturing a new generation of mathematicians. We aim to attract top talents and provide them with the resources and guidance they need to excel. Additionally, We plan to host regular mathematics workshops and seminars, inviting renowned mathematicians and experts to share their insights and knowledge with our students and faculty.
We are excited about the future of our Mathematics Department and look forward to continuing our journey of academic excellence, research, and community involvement. Together, we will explore new horizons in the world of mathematics.
