The Department of Computer Application, established in 2009, has evolved into a vibrant center for academic excellence, innovation, and skill development in the field of computer science and information technology. Initially founded as the Dr. Uma Shanker Institute of Computer Application, the department began its journey by offering the DCA (O-Level) one-year diploma program under the aegis of the Institute of Professional Studies, University of Allahabad. This marked the foundation of its commitment to delivering quality, industry-relevant education.

Over time, the department expanded its academic portfolio significantly. In the academic session 2016–2017, it introduced additional programs such as the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA), the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), and the Course on Computer Concepts (CCC). The BCA program, in particular, has become a flagship offering of the department, successfully nurturing students in programming, software development, and computational thinking.

To strengthen industry-oriented learning, the department collaborated with UPTECH to offer a one-year certificate course in Diploma in Programming and Software, including O-Level certification. This initiative provided students with practical exposure and enhanced their employability skills.

In line with emerging technological trends and educational reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the department launched a five-year integrated BCA-MCA program in Data Science in the academic session 2023–24. This program is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and modern computing technologies, preparing them for future-ready careers.

Further enhancing its focus on skill development, the department has recently introduced two innovative skill-based elective programs:
